The Foundation

Creating a living system for a regenerative society

At the Pioneers of Our Time Foundation, we are building more than ideas, we are creating a living system for a regenerative society. Rooted in the Muga Valley in the Eastern Pyrenees, our work spans 100,000 hectares of diverse and vibrant territory.

This is not a concept. It is a real, evolving demonstration, where land, people, and purpose come together to shape solutions for the future. What we develop here is designed to go beyond our valley, offering models that can be replicated across thousands of similar regions throughout Europe.

Our approach is holistic and systemic. We collaborate deeply with local ecosystems, natural, social, and economic, to unlock meaningful, lasting change. By connecting knowledge, innovation, and community, we activate the full potential of the bioregion.

We are not just imagining a better future.
We are living it, testing it, and scaling it.

This is where regeneration becomes reality.

Creating fire safety, water security and reviving our rural economies

Water is the foundation of strong local communities soil fertility, fire safety, jobs and livelihoods. Mediterranean watersheds are among Europe’s most beautiful,  and most vulnerable. Years of rural abandonment, biodiversity loss, and climate-driven droughts have left its forests fragile and prone to devastating wildfires and dry rivers.

The Pioneers of Our Time Foundation is catalyzing a movement to regenerate these living systems, watershed by watershed, starting in the Iberian Peninsula. It is our mission to co-create replicable models for thriving communities that foster resilient landscapes.

Catalyzing transformation

The role of the foundation is to catalyze the transformation towards resilient landscapes we depend on. We unite science, finance, public and private stakeholders and community stewardship to restore watersheds, strengthen rural economies, and inspire a new culture of care for the land.

How we work?

The foundation identifies key challenges in a watershed, builds coalitions to work on solutions, acts as a coordinating backbone for the execution and replicates what works and shares our lessons of the things that did not work.
