The Pioneers
of our Time

A journey of purpose and connection

The Pioneers Of Our Time is a network of change makers that devote their life energy, wealth and talents as a force for good. The Pioneers aim to live their full potential and celebrate life! It has never been more urgent to create new societal and economic models. Now is the time to restore the self healing capacity of our planet’s ecosystems, to tackle spiritual emptiness and deeply connect to nature and each other. Now is the time for our talent and wealth to drive positive change and to ensure all life on planet earth thrives. Welcome to The Pioneers Of Our Time.

A systemic approach to regeneration

The Pioneers of Our Time Foundation is dedicated to developing a new regenerative operating system for humanity. Based in the Muga Valley in the Spanish Pyrenees, the foundation works together with a deeply engaged community across 100,000 hectares of land. More than pioneers, they represent a living demonstration, showcasing innovative solutions that can be replicated across the thousands of similar valleys throughout the European Union. The foundation embraces a holistic, systems-thinking approach, working in close collaboration with the local ecosystem to drive meaningful and lasting change. Acting as both a facilitator and a catalyst, it supports the implementation of a shared regenerative vision for the entire bioregion.

Why Mediterranean watersheds

The Mediterranean watersheds play a critical role in stabilising Europe’s climate, water, and food systems. When these landscapes degrade, the impacts reach far beyond the region, driving water scarcity, wildfires, extreme weather, and food insecurity across the continent. Healthy forests and soils function as living infrastructure. They store water, cool landscapes, reduce fire risk, and stabilise river flows, supporting agriculture, communities, and coastal economies downstream. A Source-to-Sea approach recognises watersheds as shared life-support systems, connecting land, people, and markets. Restoring them is not an environmental luxury, but essential security infrastructure for resilient bioregions.

Collaboration Planet Wild

The Muga Valley might look like a wild paradise: endless oaks, rolling hills, and mountain air. But for years, this valley has actually been dying inside. Generations of charcoal production have turned it into a “green desert”. It has become a dense, uniform forest that suffocates the ecosystem. There’s no water, no light, no undergrowth, […]

Our Strategic Objectives

1. Helping the forest, rivers and soils become healthy again.

Create a self-sustaining microclimate by improving forest and river health, restoring degraded soils, bringing back native species, and creating water security and fire safety.

2. Building trust and relationships between people.

Strengthen the social fabric through community action platform and Sentim la Muga festival, fostering trust, relationships, and cultural anchors across the valley.

3. Bringing back life and work.

Develop bioregional financial instruments that channel capital into regenerative value chains, nature-based solutions, and community benefit, including jobs.

4. Building a governance model for life-supporting ecosystems.

Establish a bioregional governance model that unites communities, municipalities, and private actors for shared and long-term stewardship of the Muga Watershed.

5. Replicating transformation across the Mediterranean.

Through our campus we track our actions, share our learnings and create replicable models of transformation that partners can adapt and apply in other contexts in the Mediterranean.
